Paul Datovech

Head Coach

Hello, Stingrays! My name is Paul Datovech, and I am excited to announce that I will be your head coach for the 2024 summer swim season. I am a rising senior at the University of Mary Washington, where I am double majoring in Business Administration and Communications/Digital Studies, with a minor in Sports Management. Additionally, I compete for the varsity men’s swim team at UMW.

In third grade, I started my swim career with the Patrick Henry YMCA and the Ashland Barracudas. During high school, I swam for Patrick Henry HS and the JCC Dolphin Club, and then for the SwimRVA Rapids when the program first started. My favorite events are the 50 and 100 backstroke, but I enjoy swimming and coaching all four strokes!

I started my coaching career as a junior coach for the Patrick Henry Piranhas from 2015 to 2017. The past two summers I served as an assistant coach for the Ashland Barracudas, my childhood GRAL team, where I gained valuable knowledge and experiences under the tutelage of head coach, Kevin Trent. My goal for this summer is to foster an environment where swimmers can achieve personal best swims, enjoy team traditions, make new friends, and be proud of representing CORA each time they compete.

Outside of the pool, I enjoy spending time outdoors and being in the presence of my friends and family. I also enjoy watching NBA basketball, and I am a proud Golden State Warriors fan. A couple of other fun facts about me are that I am ambidextrous, I am the tallest person in my immediate family, and I have a 9-year-old mini labradoodle named Newton.

I’m looking forward to meeting everyone on the team! Go CORA!!!
